generate a consistent income online

When we decide to become entrepreneurs and build our businesses, our intention is to do it in a way that helps us generate income consistently while making an impact on our clients’ lives. However, oftentimes, we spend so much time trying to figure the pieces out, without knowing it, we have now become our own employees and have essentially created a job for ourselves instead of freedom.

I remember back to the first few years in my business how frustrating it was to watch the hours go by, putting in work, effort, resources, and money without seeing any real traction in my bank account. Sure, I was making money, but it wasn’t enough. That’s why I want to share with you 5 things I have learned and applied in my business that have genuinely helped me generate a consistent income as an online coach.

These same 5 things are what I focus on weekly, and sometimes even daily in my business in order to keep progressing and optimizing every single layer of what I do. They are what allow me to generate over $40,000 per month consistently and have the number grow each and every month.

I break down some of these aspects in much more detail and depth in my free masterclass which you can sign up for right over here.

#1 A WINNING MINDSET

I think that the thing that has made the most impact in my business has been my capacity to keep on working on my mindset, every single day. Here’s the thing that most entrepreneurs don’t tell you: being an entrepreneur is a personal development journey.

Being successful comes down to your ability to learn how to overcome obstacles quickly and with the right mindset. It also comes down to your belief and certainty in yourself and what you do.

Generating consistent income for me has been a result of my daily focus on the things that I want over the things that I don’t. For a very long time, I used to spend most of my day buried in worry and concern: would I be able to pay the bills? Was I doing enough? What if I didn’t sign another client? What was I going to do?

It’s the moment I made a mental shift into focusing on those things that I DID want, that my life started to transform. Asking myself questions like the ones below allowed me to shift my energy and focus:

  • What makes me feel good?
  • What if everything works out for me?
  • What is working in my business right now?

Here’s the thing, when you are spending your time focusing on the things that aren’t working, it just means that you keep on looking for evidence of that in your life. It also keeps you in a very victim mentality where you are essentially reacting to what’s happening on in your life, as if you had no control over any of it.

When you shift into looking for the things that are working, it allows you to change your perspective and to look for solutions. I think that, as coaches, we have to remember that we’re not some tumbleweed flying around without any choice of what we want. If you want to succeed, you need to take the wheels of your business and your life. Stop reacting, start being proactive and acting like a CEO, not an employee of your own business.

I talk more about mindset right over here in case you want to dig deeper into this subject.

#2 NARROWING DOWN YOUR MESSAGE

I’ve written and talked extensively about the importance of defining a powerful brand message and how using the Brand Strategy Pyramid will allow you to connect more efficiently with your ideal audience.

However, what I want you to understand is that if you want to generate clients and income consistently, this is a process that shouldn’t be ‘done’ any time soon. Whether you have been in business for 3 months or 3 decades, you need to be in a place where you are constantly evaluating your message and ensuring that what you are saying is making connections with your audience.

At the end of the day, you can have all the ‘pieces’ to success ready: testimonials, case studies, credentials, a perfect funnel, and beautiful social media. However, if your message isn’t getting across to your ideal audience, you are essentially wasting your time and resources.

Every day the market will get more saturated, which only proves that what you have to sell very likely is something that is needed. You job then becomes to make sure that what you are saying is reaching the right people so that they start to see you more and more like the solution that they need.

The answer to this is to get very specific with what you do. Meaning, you want to make sure that you are clearly communicating your value in every piece of your customer journey. From the moment that your audience encounters you, to the content that you are putting out each day, to each piece of your funnel, you need to make sure that it is crystal clear what the outcomes or benefits of working with you will be.

To give you an example, in my own messaging, I tell share with coaches and consultants exactly what it is that I do by communicating that together we will be:

1) Defining how to position yourself as a magnet that will attract the right people. This includes understanding what to leverage in order to stand out as well as truly define exactly WHO your ideal audience is so that you can cut through the noise and attract the type of client who has exactly the problem that you can solve (and who will not need convincing to pay for it)

2) Crafting or clarifying the way in which you present your high-ticket offer while understanding the outcome you provide and setting yourself up as a premium brand - so that you can confidently charge at least $3k while knowing how to position your offer as the solution your clients need

3) Tailoring my lead generation strategy to your specific business while creating magnetic content, so that you get a 1-4 Discovery Calls booked every single day

As you can see, it is extremely clear. What you do needs to be clear to your audience as well and this doesn’t stop the moment that you create your value proposition or positioning statement. This is an ongoing process that involves you always researching your audience in order to understand who they are and what they need.

I talk about this further in my free masterclass right over here.

#3 RE-EVALUATING YOUR OFFER

The next part that is necessary for you to generate more income consistently is to revise your offer every few months. Maybe you haven’t even created your offer just yet - and if that’s the case, you want to take your time in order to make sure you get this right. However, if you have an offer, you want to analyze certain aspects of it in order to see what you can do in order to bring in more clients consistently into it:

  • If your offer too broad and solving too many problems at once?
  • Do you clearly communicate what your offer does? (See point #2)
  • How many clients have successfully gone through your program?
  • What is the main outcome they are getting from it?
  • What can you improve in what you are selling?

Here’s the thing, it’s easy for us to get lazy once we have a program created. I understand this because I have recorded modules and training videos and created workbooks and more, over the years. Revising what you have to offer can feel like a lot of work.

But, if you are committed to being in integrity and making sure that your clients are getting results, it means that you need to, from time to time, go back and revise what you are selling and think about the things you can do to improve them.

For you to generate consistent income, often it means you revamping and repackaging what you already have. Not only does it bring the whole process new energy and freshness, but it’s also an opportunity for you to evaluate whether what you are selling is actually good enough.

If you are getting too many sales objections too often (think: it’s too expensive, I can’t afford it, I have to think about it) there might be something that you need to improve in what you are selling.

Every year, I sit down to evaluate my programs while asking myself, what can I improve? And if it takes me re-recording modules, re-designing workbooks, or building brand new sales pages, so be it. My commitment is with my clients and the truth is that the more that I believe in the work that I do, the easier it is for me to sign clients consistently.

#4 OPTIMIZING YOUR FUNNEL

Magnetic customer journey to build success as an online coach | Fabi Paolini Brand Strategy Coach

Another aspect that is fundamental to your success and to bringing income consistently into your business as an online coach is to make sure that you are constantly optimizing your digital marketing strategy and sales funnel.

Of course, ideally, for this to work, you need to have a funnel in the first place. If you don’t this is the first place to begin. Why? Because having a funnel will allow you to bring people in through an automated strategy in a consistent way. For example, you can have a pre-recorded webinar, a video sales letter, a free email course, a Bootcamp or even a free pdf on your website which drives people to buy your services or to book a Discovery Call with you instead.

When you have these pieces in place though, you need to make sure you are optimizing it constantly. A lot of times what people tend to do is that they go out there, they build a funnel, and then when they don’t get results from it, they drop it and move on to the next shiny thing, ignoring the work and effort it took to build it in the first place.

The truth is that you can get results from basically any type of funnel out there (as long as your message is right, of course). There are people making millions of dollars right now using every single funnel and strategy out there, and the only reason why you might not be, is because you quit too soon.

Every single week in my own business, we sit down to revise our stats asking ourselves:

  • What is the landing page conversion rate?
  • How many people have watched the video?
  • What needs to be improved in the video to make it more powerful?
  • What is my email open rate?
  • What needs to change?

Yes. I do this on a weekly basis, but doing so has allowed my optimization to skyrocket over the past few years. Every single month we do something that makes it all better. Small, slight tweaks can make a massive difference.

Today, we generate anywhere from 1-4 Discovery Calls of highly qualified people every single day without fault. It wasn’t always like this though. Back when I created my first automated webinar, I got zero results. In fact, I spent over $3,000 on advertising in the first month of launching it and didn’t get even one lead.

I could have easily quit and blamed my coach for this. I could have said that this strategy simply didn’t work. But, I didn’t. I stuck with it because I felt that it was right for me. Instead, I decided to tweak and keep improving it, and, believe it or not, it was on the 11th version when I finally started to see some real traction from my webinar. Since then, I’ve made over $1,000,000 in my business. Imagine if I would have quit on version 1. Today, my masterclass is extremely successful and really powerful.

My point is, if you want to generate consistent income, you have to sit down and analyze the strategies that are working and those that aren’t. Make the necessary changes that will allow you to get the results you are looking for.

#5 NURTURING YOUR AUDIENCE

The final thing you need to focus on as an online coach if you want to generate a consistent income is on nurturing and showing up for your audience - even if your audience is tiny. The only way for you to connect with your audience and get them to see you as the solution that they need is if they actually hear what you have to say.

You need to be able to stay top of mind and to remind your audience that you are there for them. So very often I see entrepreneurs hiding behind a funnel, thinking that this is enough to succeed. They’ve been sold this idea that all they have to do is create a strategy and then go to Bali to sip cocktails by the beach. Seriously? That’s not how it works.

If you want your audience to pay attention, you have to pay attention first and actually give them a reason to listen. That means generating content consistently. Do I think that you have to become Gary Vee and become a machine that creates 50 pieces of content every day? No. Obviously not.

You want to figure out what works for you and your own business. Maybe it’s emailing more often, maybe it’s posting on social media every other day or creating a live conversion event that will give value. Personally, that’s what I do.

Every single month I do a live, free workshop for my audience. Yes, I have the content prepared beforehand, but doing this live allows me to reconnect with them and see what is going on. Every time I do one, without fault, I end up bringing clients in as well.

However, I have to say, more than the financial results that may come from these, it’s about showing up and staying connected to your own brand and message.

Figure out what it will take for you to nurture your audience in a way that feels right for your business. Don’t be afraid to show up. At the end of the day, the truth is that your audience wants to see if they like you if they connect with you if you are the right solution for them. But, they won’t be able to make that decision if you are only emailing once every full moon.

Making a consistent income in your business comes down to you being consistent in your efforts as well. Looking at your business as a CEO or business owner will allow you to be more proactive and optimize everything you are doing in a way that allows your clients to see you as the solution.

Which things are you focusing on the most? Send me a message on Instagram and let me know what resonated with you and what your main takeaway was.
